Thanks go to the folks at F150Forum.

I never enrolled in Sirius after the trial period. Finally, the never-used Sirius choice is gone from my MFT menu. Oh, the small joys in life!

Needed:
  • Desire to eliminate your unused Sirius menu option
  • My Ford Touch (SYNC2 8" Touchscreen)
  • FORScan (I'm running 2.3.6 beta with free extended license on a WIN 7 Pro 64-bit Dell e6530)
  • Interface device (I'm using an old, clone, USB ELM327 home-modified with HS/MS switch)
(this isn't a FORScan tutorial - please get familiar with it and you interface device elsewhere)

For NON-SONY entertainment (proven to work for me):
  • Connect and read all modules using FORScan
  • In "Configuration and Programming" choose APIM
  • Save your existing configuration to a file (always)
  • At 7D0-01-01 you should see 2###-####-#### (where # is a hexadecimal value)
  • Change 2 to 0
  • Write the new entry to your APIM; follow the onscreen instructions to cycle the key off-then-on; let SYNC run through it's self-initiated maintenance screen.
  • VOILA! No more 'Sirius' on the menu and it doesn't show as I scroll through choices with the steering wheel controls. It's gone. Done, tested and proven on my Escape (see signature block for details on my car). This had no effect on other reprogramming I'd done to my APIM (self-enabled Navigation still works perfectly). No DTC's were detected before or after I did the re-programming.

For SONY entertainment (not proven by me - I don't have a SONY system)
  • Connect and read all modules using FORScan (this isn't a FORScan tutorial - get familiar with it elsewhere)
  • In "Configuration and Programming" choose APIM
  • Save your existing configuration to a file (always)
  • At 7D0-01-01 you should see A###-####-#### (where # is a hexadecimal value)
  • Change A to 8
  • Write the new entry to your APIM; follow the onscreen instructions to cycle the key off-then-on; let SYNC run through it's self-initiated maintenance screen.

As always - any modification is at Your Own Risk.

Don't blame me if it doesn't work, has unintended consequences or you 'brick' your APIM.

No, of course this is not covered under warranty.

When the Sirius block/button on the MFT screen disappeared, did the subsequent blocks/buttons shift up one space to fill the void? Hope this question makes sense.

Is it safe to assume, or is it your opinion that the process could be reversed to bring Sirius back in cause you go to sell the vehicle?

There's no gaps/blanks between the buttons on the menu .... it looks just as if the car never had Sirius and was designed that way from the get-go.

On the left side of the full-expanded entertainment screen I now have

AM (push for preselect ranges)
FM (push for preselect ranges)
CD
USB
BT Stereo
(down arrow to go to the next 'page')
(up arrow to go to the first 'page')
SD Card
A/V In
(grey field below that with room for 3 more buttons)

Hope that answers the question.

BTW, I ASSume this effectively disables ALL Sirius functions, including those related to traffic as well as music. No way for me to test as I didn't use ANY Sirius-related features.

IF other FORScan re-programming I've messed with is any indication, when you return any hex-code to the "pre-edit" condition it does just that - everything is back to what it was before you did the code edit. I'll try to find time tomorrow to reverse the edit report back.

My confidence with FORScan and the Escape is now such that I've no problem trying back-and-forth edits; I've done that several times playing with ACM output re-programming. Sometimes those didn't have the desired effect but I've not 'bricked' anything yet and always am able to get back to the starting point. YMMV.

Lol, can't help ya there @atlcarl69 .... your going to have to do your own digging on the linked F150 Forum, XDA, interweb ... and then share your Escape-applicable findings here of course !

;)

With the 'Sirius delete mod' my steering wheel M-button just cycles through the remaining available options like it 'should' with no 'dead spots'.

"Check That"** .... further digging suggests that the actual SDARS enable/disable is within the ACM programming parameters (727-01-01 address), so this APIM trick may in fact only be affecting the menu display. That could make sense as the SDARS sub-module is physically located within the ACM module.

Very interesting!

I'd like to try and get it to

FM (push for preselect ranges)
CD
USB
BT Stereo

I'm wondering if that were possible, if:
1-the Nav card works,
2-what would happen if I tried to access one of the missing ones with a voice command
3-how many presses on the M button on the steering wheel completes the circle (FM - FM) etc

SONY entertainment

This worked on my SONY Sync2 2014 Escape Titanium

For SONY entertainment
  • Connect and read all modules using FORScan (this isn't a FORScan tutorial - get familiar with it elsewhere)
  • In "Configuration and Programming" choose APIM
  • Save your existing configuration to a file (always)
  • At 7D0-01-01 you should see A###-####-#### (where # is a hexadecimal value)
  • Change A to 8
  • Write the new entry to your APIM; follow the onscreen instructions to cycle the key off-then-on; let SYNC run through it's self-initiated maintenance screen.

Reviving this thread. I really dislike Sirius and want to remove it. I was sooo happy to come across this thread. I have a 2019 SEL with Sync3 that I have owned for a few months now. The latest irritation for me is that when I'm listening to music on my phone via bluetooth or USB, Sirius will cut in every 5 to 10 minutes with advertising. Pisses me off! So......... I have never used Forscan. But I'm really computer savvy. What is the learning curve like?
