Actually I was not clear. I just needed to know if this tsb bulletin was meant to get the coolant level checked or get the engine checked from Ford. Even for those with no issues.
A TSB (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) is a communication between FORD and it's dealers to announce and how to go about dealing with a found problem on a car/truck. It is meant to inform the dealer about handling a customer complaint regarding certain problem(s) and how to repair.

The only worry you have is keeping an eye on the coolant level (you check under the hood at every fill-up, right?). If you notice the cooling level lowering, then you take it in to find the cause of the coolant loss.

Does that help?

Thanks. I can decipher that it is says 2017 model 2l but that's about all. Thank God they did not make it complicated. 😖. I will check it out through your link as soon as I brush up on my physics degree. 😁

EDIT: Unable to get details of engine build etc. through VIN decoder link above. Seems to only apply to US Fords.

Could only get these scant details from aussie site.
... hmmpf ...

When the industry went to the WORLDWIDE VIN ID SYSTEM, it was supposed to allow the easy ID of any car with the 17-character VIN CODE. WH0 (first three characters of your VIN) shows assembly in Germany.

It wouldn't pull out the rest?

The ENGINE ID DECAL gives you (readable) the ENGINE SIZE, PLANT and DATE of ASSY. The rest of the coding has to be run through either a parts book or some information source in the service dept (I would think).

Haven't been in a dealer for almost twenty years and much has changed.

So the decoder I showed won't breakdown your VIN?

Helped perfectly. Thanks!

Thanks for info but no, sorry....all I can establish from those links is that the car was built in Germany mid 2017 and the engine came from Valencia, Spain but nothing else makes sense as the vin. letter positions link to different models, unless I just do not have the mental capacity to decipher it which is a possibility in my errr...maturing years.

HEY! Don't feel like the LONE RANGER ...

I get a big kick walking across a room for something and then wondering why I crossed the room.

If you trust me, E-MAIL your VIN as this will be a learning experience for me.

I feel your pain. If I am in the kitchen and suddenly need to look up something on my computer in the study I have to quickly write myself a note about it coz I have to cover about 30 feet to get there. :p

Personal message sent here in discussions. :)

Are all of the replacement 2.0’s built in Spain? I have yet to see one from Cleveland
How do you know all are VEP and not CLV? Do you work in a FORD DEALER?

This might be a clue as I doubt FORD would make this public.

... just wondering ...

I did, yes. Not currently. Every replacement long block I have seen is a VEP piece. But I could be wrong. Been out of the business for a few years.
I will say this, my 17 just got a new long block, and it’s a VEP.

You know, this is very interesting. I saw a reference to this just a while ago. Let me check something.

Why did you leave the trade or did you?

Working the service counter is a really demanding business. I did it for well over 25 years before getting called into ministry, and relocating.

CHECK THIS OUT -

I have a 2017 with less than 54,000 miles that I bought used and am still making payments on. It is not drivable at this point. I have read on other sites that they some relief from Ford but not sure how they did it. Has anyone gone to Ford after their warranty has expired and gotten any relief?

Over 100,000 Ford owners have reported the same issue: coolant leaking into the engine. I have a 2017 Escape Titanium 2.0L ecoboost engine. The car does not even have 35k miles on it. I do regular maintenance and oil changes. The car started overheating and stalling. A mechanic examined it and told me that coolant has leaked into the oil. I towed it to the Ford dealership for an official diagnosis. Indeed, I am a victim of the infamous coolant intrusion. Ford is so aware of it that they have the recommendation on their repair site: new long block. The cost of the repair is over $8,000, which is not even possible for me, I am retired and i live on social security. I purchased this car new before I retired thinking it would last for as long as I was alive . Basically, that’s a whole new engine with an improved long block they have. This means that they know and knew better after the first 1.5l ecoboost lawsuit. I would have forgiven them if they owned up to the mistake and repaired the vehicle. The fact that I had to join a class action lawsuit causes me to continuously preach the message against this disingenuous fraudulent company. I will NEVER buy another Ford!

Where did you get the 100,000 number from? Were these both 1.5 and 2.0 engines total, or this is the 2.0 only?.. That is a large number either way. You would think this class action suit by now would and should be settled by now somehow.. A complete reimbursement for engines that have been replaced, and an extended warranty for those that haven't been..
