23 Escape with B&O system lost all sound (and how I eventually fixed it)

Yesterday my Escape lost all audio; turning the volume knob or pressing the power button on the dashboard or via Sync did nothing. No phone, no turn by turn navigation prompts from Waze, etc.. The car's built in GPS also ceased to function (Waze via Android Auto still worked as it used the phone's GPS) and the FordPass showed my car as being still being parked at work instead of at home.

I try soft rebooting Sync several times by holding volume down and next track (the 2 outermost buttons) on the steering for several seconds but it did nothing. So then i turned to Google and found some forum posts for F150s and Broncos with the same issue. The fix is to pull the amplifier's fuse for a few seconds (I slowly counted to five) and pop it back in. Manual, as viewed from my phone, wasn't overly clear how to access the fuses, but Google once again came to rescue. This is a video for the 2020, but it was the same on my 2023.

Here are the manual references:

Doesn't pulling the battery cable lose seat and radio station memory? Also, I need to remove the spare tire to access it.

Faced a very similar situation to this a few days ago. Like chaimav I have a hybrid (so the 12V battery is hard to access) and the premium B&O sound system. Suddenly one afternoon the audio system just could not be turned on and the built-in nav was reporting GPS was broken, rebooting Sync did not help.

Came across this post and did pretty much everything exactly the same as chaimav except I just pulled out and opened the under-hood fuse box, then put it back a few minutes later. Had an issue actually pulling the fuse so it just stayed in the whole time. But disconnecting and reconnecting the box seemed to be enough to force the module to cold-boot and fix the audio / GPS issue.

That process did end up wiping my display settings for the instrument cluster so I had to reset that. But no need to redo radio presets or seat position etc.
Glad to have helped
