This thread is about converting Sync3 MY20 Nav US -> PL (or just ny other EU language).
It was started before SyncRenovation was available, so before these MY20 APIMs could be safely reformatted. So, the procedure/method below refers to the older, "manual" method of removing US packages and adding EU ones.
The method has six steps. Since SyncRenovation exists now, we may just replace steps 2 through 5 with using SyncRenovation, leaving just three steps (jailbreak, reformat and configure). If you would like to do so, skip to this post.

Old method below.

For conversion of Sync3 MY20 Nav US -> PL (likely any other EU language, I think), here is a shortened "todo" list:

1. Jailbreak (FMods) plus FMods Installer Daemon and FMods Tools
2. Removal of Gracenotes (Syn3 Updater)
3. Removing US/NA maps and navigation voices (Navigation Data Remover)
4. Finding current ENH_DAB 1U5T-14G658-xxx and VOICE 5U5T-14G391-xxx packages for Europe and installing it on Sync3
5. Downloading a subset of EU maps, navigation voices and the map license, installing it using Maps Updater
6. Reconfiguring ACM, IPC and APIM with Forscan, and then enabling your language in the Sync menu

No warranties for anything, it worked for me in Escape 2020 Titanium with Sync 3.4 (EU maps with speed limits, Polish turn-by-turn navigation voice, Polish speech recognition, FM tuning every 50 MHz, RDS, station logos).
I have a more detailed information in Polish, describing space issues, listing sizes, with links to tools etc. I posted it on Polish forum.fordclubpolska.org, but the post mysteriously disappeared within 30 minutes, and as for now moderators don't seem to be willing to answer why. Pecunia non olet, I guess (there's a lot of offers if you want to pay to have this job done for you).
Can do that in English as well, if anyone is interested.

Could you describe the procedure in Polish? Did you do it with Forscan? Could we contact you via PM?

Sync3 MY20 Nav US -> PL/EU

The information below is an attempt to gather in one place all information needed to use an US Sync MY20 (as in Escape 2020 and newer, Sync 3.4) in Europe, with EU maps, own country voices and european radio station logos.
Having Android Auto and CarPlay custom car navigation systems may not be crucial now. Still, this is a source of speed limit information, so it is needed to see the limit on your dashboard, as well as it enables using IACC (Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, making a current road speed limit the speed the cruise control is targetting to - kudos to @alaska360 for enabling us to use it on 2020 Escapes). It is also crucial for ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance, making a current speed limit active for the speed limiter, if you can have the function enabled, that is if you have the LIM button).

Exclaimer: all below is not a step-by-step guide, it's a set of information. You should know what you do, and you do that on your own responsibility. There may be other ways to get there (like with no jailbreak?), though "it works for me" - what is below is an edited version of what suceeded for me (edited, as I did it e.g. in a different order, but this one is better to fit more maps etc)
Mine was Escape 2020 Titanium (other trims may not have some functionalities) on version 22251. It should work on 23188 as well (I did upgrade to 23188 after all this, here they say jailbreak works on 23188 too: FMods Latest Syn3 Version).
This was done for changing US data/voices to Polish, but the procedure itself should be exactly the same for other EU countries, just taking other navigation voice pack at one point. That is of course, until your language is among EU voices in 1U5T-14G658-xxx package and navigation voices in 4U5T-14G422-Bxx packages (the latter are: Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish).

Two things should be explained when talking about Sync3 in Escape 2020 and newer ones. First, they are "MY20" APIMs, which means they can't be reformatted using the reformat tool from CyanLabs (note that for older APIMs also there's a risk some can have a newer flash, e.g. due to recalls/service, as noted on the Polish forum.fordclubpolska.org by user tedi_k), which was earlier the best way to convert US APIM to EU. This may change in future if a new reformatter shows up (the old one seems to be leaked from Ford, as this is their tool)

Note: this tool already exists, thi is SyncRenovation (Universal Reformat. A newer version of this procedure utilizing this tool (less things to do) is in this post.

The second thing, US APIMs still have 32 GB flash, and EU ones have 64 GB. This renders impossible pushing all EU map pack to an US Sync - /fs/images partition, where this data goes, has 25 GB. Latest F12 EU maps are around 22 GB alone. Basic voice package should also be there (2 GB), as well as navigation voice pack (4GB for CZ+PL+RU). You also need around 2 GB left free, as this partition is used during packages installtion (like Sync3 software upgrade). In other words, if you don't care about the Sync speaking to you (nor about you speaking to the Sync), you could try to fit all Europe maps and have all speed limit data (I haven't tried to get rid of basic voice pack, but Syn3 Updater has an option of installing a basic English-only package, which has 250 MB, so it should be good together with 22 GB of map data). Station logos package also goes on /fs/images, though it's just 70 MB, so it's not likely to break the camel's back.

Sync3 package installation is typically done by using an ExFat formatted pendrive, with a "SyncMyRide" directory, and "autoinstall.lst" file (the file itself is in the main pendrive directory). This file contains installtation rules for the Sync, using files placed in "SyncMyRide". If the file has a few sections, Sync3 can restart itself during the installation, and the pendrive should stay in USB then (we won't use it here, so we should take out the pendrive at the Sync3 reset).
After the jailbreak the pendrive can have a "SyncMyMod" directory, and if there is an "autoinstall.sh" file inside, it will be executed. This is used by e.g. "Navigation Data Remover" or "Maps Updater" (don't mix both methods).

Requirements: a few pendrives (easier than with just one), a licensed Forscan, and an interface (e.g. vLinker FS USB).

The "todo" list:

In the effect:
  • European maps on the navigation screen, you can navigate to an EU address
  • speed limit information for a current road
  • localized dashboard and the Sync
  • localized voices, including turn-by-turn navigation
  • localized speech recognition (interaction with the navigation, radio etc)
  • FM radio: ability to set frequency at every 50 MHz (.00, .05, .10, .15 etc)
  • RDS: showing name of a current radio station (or whatever the station broadcasts in this place), TA option
  • showing logo of a current station (not for niche ones, but main ones are there)

Ad2. Syn3 Updater: Syn3 Updater - CyanLabs

In the "Utilities" tab Syn3 Updater offers to "Create Gracenotes Removal USB".
Gracenotes are covers and metadata for media files. The "gracenotes.img" file is ca. 1 GB on the /fs/images partition.

Ad3. Useful link: Navigation Data Remover

After this step Sync shows the navigation does not work properly (no wonder, it has no data).
Free space can be checked with the interrogator utility - Syn3 Updater, "Utilities" tab, "Create Interrogator USB". After using it, the output XML will contain information on space available on the /fs/images partition (this can also be useful later).

Ad4. Link for files on ford.com: http://ivsu.binaries.ford.com/swparts/ (you need to add a package name to the URL)
Packages database at CyanLabs, where the packages can be searched/filtered (it links directly to the files shared by Ford): SYNC 3 APIM Software (IVSU) Database - CyanLabs

The ENH_DAB package contains radio station logos, one package for EU and ROW regions, currently this is 1U5T-14G658-AH. After installing this shows up as "station_logos.img" on the /fs/images partition.
The VOICE package contains voices, the "voice.img" will replace the original one. For Europe, the third part of the number is "A", current package version is 5U5T-14G391-AT.
I have downloaded both files, places in the "SyncMyRide" directory, and manually created the "autoinstall.lst" file (the file itself needs to be in the main directory on the pendrive):

;-----
; ENH_DAB and VOICE EU

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]
Item1 = 1U5T-14G658-AH
Open1 = SyncMyRide\1U5T-14G658-AH_1644006443000.TAR.GZ
Item2 = 5U5T-14G391-AT
Open2 = SyncMyRide\5U5T-14G391-AT_1660763323000.TAR.GZ
Options = AutoInstall
;-----

Ad5. Useful links:

Warning: installing maps takes a lot of time (30 minutes and more), it has to be done with the engine on (watch out for the idle timeout!) or with the car connected to a 12V power source.

Maps Updater's advantage is that we don't place .tar.gz on the pendrive, but we place there already uncompressed data - this is faster and it doesn't take up Sync3 space for temporary files.
Syn3 Updater will help to identify the files you need. In its configuration you should specify Region: Europe, and as New Version: Region also Europe and choose "Only Update Maps". Then pick the newest version, and you will get the map package list. For "14G421" packages the last part of the number is region, subregion and version. North America starts with "A", Europe starts with "B". Currently the latest EU version is F12, which is "K" as the third letter. Subregions are (the list below was assembled using Tutorial: Current EU Maps Installation on US Imported Vehicles (Cyanlabs), enhanced with details from my F12 installation):

1U5T-14G421-BAK - required, EU_Common - map_comn.img (3.5 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BBK - required, EU_Map_ext - map_ext.img (1.3 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BCK - Denmark, Finland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden - map_eunuk.img (2.6 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BDK - Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar - map_eulb.img (1.6 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BEK - France, Andorra, Monaco, Switzerland - map_eufr.img (2.4 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BFK - Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, The Netherlands (Holland), Poland, Slovakia - map_euc.img (3.6 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BGK - Albania, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Malta, Slovenia, San Marino, Turkey, Vatican, Italy - map_eus.img (3.4 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BHK - Bulgaria, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, Ukraine - map_eue.img (4.1 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BJK - Cyprus - map_eucy.img (41 MB)

And the voices ("14G422" packages):

4U5T-14G422-BAK - English, French, German - voice_nav_euegfd.img (5.2 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BBK - Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish - voice_nav_euspit.img (5 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BCK - Czech, Polish, Russian - voice_nav_eucpr.img (4 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BDK - Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian - voice_nav_eudnsf.img (4.7 GB)

Additionally:

1U5T-14G424-BM - the license

Place Maps Updater on the pendrive, this will be "autoinstall.sh" in the "SyncMyMod" directory. Then (using e.g. 7-zip) unpack interesting packages to "SyncMyMod\packages" - for example, subregion "BFK" from the "1U5T-14G421-BFK_1682467908000.TAR.GZ" file (downloaded using Syn3 Updater from CyanLabs) we place "map_euc_new.img" and "Version.der" files in the directory (!) "SyncMyMod\packages\1U5T-14G421-BFK". Remember also about the license package.

In my case I skipped BCK (UK and North Europe) and BHK (Bulgaria, Romania and Eastern Europe), and with BCK voices my /fs/images has 3.5 GB left free.

Ad6. Using Forscan:

(before doing any changes, be sure to save your current "asbuilt" to a file as a backup)
  • ACM: set "Tuner region value" to "Europe"
  • IPC: set "Country Code" to your country (e.g. "PL")
  • APIM: set "Radio Tuner Type" to "RDS (EUR, APA, SA)" and "Country code" to your country (e.g. "PL")

Here is the Forscan web page: forscan.org

After a full APIM restart (soft reset) the Sync3 menu should have European languages available (they are set here for both Sync3 and the dashboard/cluster).
The soft reset can be done by pressing Seek Right and Radio Power for more that 5 seconds (you can find more on resetting Sync in a CyanLabs guide for this topic).

Now, since Universal Reformat is available, it should be possible to use it for reformatting Sync3 MY20 and installing just needed/requested packages. It still needs jailbreaking first. At the end of the day the outcome should be similar, with reformatting giving more clean system without any leftovers. Since I already have a working system, I'm good with what I have.

Plotus decided to go this route, though, and so newer version of the above procedure utilizing SyncRenovation is in this post.

Claryfying some details (answering questions I got):
- step 6, that is reconfiguration in Forscan, can be done before others, after others or not done at all. It is about changing language, and not required for the car to use specific maps (it may change the way some names are displayed, though, and how they are entered)
- step 3, station logos and and EU voices, is also independent. If you install these files, you will have the functionalities. If not, there will be no station logos and/or national voices. Maps themselves will work.

The voice on my '11 VW JSW TDi was in German. Would have left it if I remembered enough high school and college German. 🙂

Dealer changed it to English.

I have above in Polish as well. I do not have more detailed step by step guide, as it would need to take many details into account, and mostly this is described somewhere else - like it makes no sense to describe jailbreaking here. Feel free to ask questions when in need.

To update to newer maps (like F13) you can use just Navigation Data Remover (step 3) and then install chosen packages with Maps Updater (step 5).
Update for package ids and sizes for F13 maps:

1U5T-14G421-BAL - required, EU_Common - map_comn.img (3.45 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BBL - required, EU_Map_ext - map_ext.img (1.25 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BCL - Denmark, Finland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden - map_eunuk.img (2.46 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BDL - Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar - map_eulb.img (1.60 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BEL - France, Andorra, Monaco, Switzerland - map_eufr.img (2.45 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BFL - Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, The Netherlands (Holland), Poland, Slovakia - map_euc.img (3.41 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BGL - Albania, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Malta, Slovenia, San Marino, Turkey, Vatican, Italy - map_eus.img (3.00 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BHL - Bulgaria, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, Ukraine - map_eue.img (3.78 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BJL - Cyprus - map_eucy.img (41 MB)

4U5T-14G422-BAL - English, French, German - voice_nav_euegfd.img (5.09 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BBL - Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish - voice_nav_euspit.img (4.91 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BCL - Czech, Polish, Russian - voice_nav_eucpr.img (3.83 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BDL - Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian - voice_nav_eudnsf.img (4.50 GB)

1U5T-14G424-BN - the license

Note that it is possible to use Maps Updater without preceeding it with the remover, though for Sync3 to display proper map version the old "/fs/rwdata/NAV/map_version" needs to be removed (so Sync3 can update it with new information). It's a part of what Navigation Data Remover does, so it's just easier/cleaner/safer to use it before uploading new packages.

(BTW, "map_version" file seems to be a 32 byte file with just an ASCII string followed by zeros)

Sync3 MY20 Nav US (or ANZ) -> PL/EU, the easier way

Converting Sync3 MY20 Nav US (or ANZ) to EU boils down to replacing US map and voice packages with EU ones, and then changing modules configuration (e.g. with Forscan). There are two problems related.
First, the US/ANZ nav units are 32 GB, and EU nav units are 64 GB. We won't fit all EU data on an US unit, so we have to make some choice of what we can get rid of.
Second, this all is most easily done by reformatting the unit and putting right packages on it. The problem is this used to be done (e.g. by great Cyanlabs tools) with the Ford reformat utility (package 1U5T-14G386-CB), but MY20 APIMs (in general, APIM is the Sync3 unit) started to be fitted with new chips, which were not recognized by the utility and using this bricked the unit. Luckily, bigunclemax released on fmods.net a modified reformatter (signed by bigunclemax, Sanek2033, IgorStr. and Au{R}oN), which is able to work with MY20 APIMs. This is the SyncRenovation (Universal Reformat). Though, since this is not an original Ford signed software, we first need to jailbreak the Sync3 to use it.
(note that bigunclemax has also a GitHub page for flashing/repairing bricked Sync3 units, and here's also EtoTen's project for starting APIM outside of the car, while we're at it)
For the older MY20 method without reformatting (and for some additional information), look here.
Since I did everything earlier using the older method, the new one was performed by Plotus (on Escape 2022 PHEV) - thanks for sharing the experience (and the screenshots:)

Usual exclaimers need to follow: you should know what you do, and you do that on your own responsibility.
Information given here is a set of hints, you need to understand the steps.
During the procedure Sync3 software is installed, so you could start with another version you can jailbreak (that you know can be upgraded to 3.4.23188), but to be on the safe side, you may want to first bring the Sync3 to 3.4.23188.

This was done for changing US data/voices to Polish, but the procedure itself is exactly the same for other EU countries, just taking other maps and navigation voice pack at one point.

What is to do:
1. Jailbreak (FMods) plus FMods Installer Daemon and FMods Tools
2. Using SyncRenovation (FMods) to reformat Sync3 and install pre-downloaded packages
3. Reconfiguring ACM, IPC and APIM with Forscan, and then enabling your language in the Sync menu

Expected effects:
  • European maps on the navigation screen, you can navigate to an EU address
  • speed limit information for a current road
  • localized dashboard and the Sync
  • localized voices, including turn-by-turn navigation
  • localized speech recognition (interaction with the navigation, radio etc)
  • FM radio: ability to set frequency at every 50 MHz (.00, .05, .10, .15 etc)
  • RDS: showing name of a current radio station (or whatever the station broadcasts in this place), TA option
  • showing logo of a current station (not for niche ones, but main ones are there)

Ad1. Jailbreak (FMods) plus FMods Installer Daemon and FMods Tools

You need to follow the three links below to first jailbreak your Sync3, and then install the FMods Installer (Daemon) and the FMods Tools.

Ad2. Using SyncRenovation (FMods) to reformat Sync3 and install pre-downloaded packages

The first thing to do here is to choose (and download) packages that you want/need to have on your Sync3. Among them is the main Sync3 software. Currently this is 3.4.23188, and the package number is "NU5T-14G381-AD".
Then, you probably also want to have the main EU voice package, which is (for 3.4.23188) "5U5T-14G391-AT".
Other may be "ENH_DAB", containing station logos - "1U5T-14G658-AH" and "Gracenotes" with covert art for music files - "4U5T-14G423-AC".
Sizes are important, as all voices, logos, maps etc go to /fs/images partition of the Sync3, which (for US Nav models) has 25 GB. So we need to make sure all fits and there's some free space for temporary Sync3 tasks. Hence for "image" packages I list its unpacked size in parentheses.
So, at this point we have four packages
  • NU5T-14G381-AD - Sync3 software
  • 5U5T-14G391-AT - EU voices - voice.img (2 GB)
  • 1U5T-14G658-AH - station logos - station_logos.img (72 MB)
  • 4U5T-14G423-AC - cover art - gracenotes.img (1 GB)

Packages are downloaded from Ford, links can be found through Cyanlabs SYNC 3 APIM Software (IVSU) Database. Just paste the package number and it should show the package, and you will be able to download it (if you enter just part of the package number, e.g. without the last part, you will see available matches, this way you can search for other versions).

One important note is that the package name includes (except a .TAR.GZ extension) an additional part, which is a number (most likely just a timestamp). So when looking for "4U5T-14G423-AC", you will download a file "4U5T-14G423-AC_1615425645000.TAR.GZ" (the files are downloaded from https://ivsu.binaries.ford.com/swparts/).
This way you should have four files, and our counter is at around 3.1 GB (we don't count in the Sync3 software).
The rest of files depend on what maps and navigation voices you want to have. Below is the list for F13 maps (the last letter "L" is for F13, F12 was "K" etc). The list below was assembled using Tutorial: Current EU Maps Installation on US Imported Vehicles (Cyanlabs), enhanced with details from my installation:

Maps:

1U5T-14G421-BAL - required, EU_Common - map_comn.img (3.45 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BBL - required, EU_Map_ext - map_ext.img (1.25 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BCL - Denmark, Finland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden - map_eunuk.img (2.46 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BDL - Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar - map_eulb.img (1.60 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BEL - France, Andorra, Monaco, Switzerland - map_eufr.img (2.45 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BFL - Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, The Netherlands (Holland), Poland, Slovakia - map_euc.img (3.41 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BGL - Albania, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Malta, Slovenia, San Marino, Turkey, Vatican, Italy - map_eus.img (3.00 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BHL - Bulgaria, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, Ukraine - map_eue.img (3.78 GB)
1U5T-14G421-BJL - Cyprus - map_eucy.img (41 MB)

Navigation voices:

4U5T-14G422-BAL - English, French, German - voice_nav_euegfd.img (5.09 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BBL - Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish - voice_nav_euspit.img (4.91 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BCL - Czech, Polish, Russian - voice_nav_eucpr.img (3.83 GB)
4U5T-14G422-BDL - Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian - voice_nav_eudnsf.img (4.50 GB)

The license:

1U5T-14G424-BN - the license

The license is obligatory, as well as "EU_Common" and "EU_Map_ext".
So, for example, if you want to have a map including Poland, "1U5T-14G421-BFL" is needed, and for navigation voices including Polish "4U5T-14G422-BCL". To the earlier four packages (the software, EU voices, station logos and cover art) you need to add five:
  • 1U5T-14G424-BN - the license (a few kilobytes)
  • 1U5T-14G421-BAL - EU_Common - map_comn.img (3.45 GB)
  • 1U5T-14G421-BBL - EU_Map_ext - map_ext.img (1.25 GB)
  • 1U5T-14G421-BFL - EU Central - map_euc.img (3.41 GB)
  • 4U5T-14G422-BCL - EU Nav voice CZ/PL/RU - voice_nav_eucpr.img (3.83 GB)
The counter is 3.1 GB plus 12 GB of maps and nav voices, which is around 15.1 GB. No issue at all (the partition is 25 GB).
For other regions and language, you replace the last two files, or just add other if there is place left.

So, having all the Ford files we want downloaded, we now need to prepare two pendrives. One (USB#1) can be of a small size, the second (USB#2) is for the files we downloaded, so 32 GB or more (and for this example even 16 GB should do).
Both, which is important, need to be formatted in "exFat".
We need to download the SyncRenovation (Universal Reformatter) mod and extract its contents to the first (smaller, USB#1) pendrive. This is the link to the SyncRenovation page on fmods.net: FMods - Forum. On the USB#1 pendrive we will then have the "SyncMyMod" directory with its contents and two files, "DONTINDX.MSA" and "README.txt".

On the second pendrive (USB#2) we need to create a "SyncMyRide" directory, and then copy there all our downloaded Ford packages (in this example, we will have 9 files).
Then, in the USB#2 pendrive's main directory, we need to create a text file named "reformat.lst", which contains the list of packages to install. This is the exact file used by Plotus for his installation (the file contents are between "#####"). For each of the packages we have one line in the "reformat.lst", so 9 lines in total:

#####
VOICE=5U5T-14G391-AT_1660763323000.TAR.GZ
GRACENOTES=4U5T-14G423-AC_1615425645000.TAR.GZ
ENH_DAB=1U5T-14G658-AH_1644006443000.TAR.GZ
APPS=NU5T-14G381-AD_1689364279000.TAR.GZ
MAP=1U5T-14G421-BAL_1723658080000.TAR.GZ
MAP=1U5T-14G421-BBL_1723560114000.TAR.GZ
MAP=1U5T-14G421-BFL_1723601450000.TAR.GZ
VOICE_NAV=4U5T-14G422-BCL_1723745202000.TAR.GZ
MAP_LICENSE=1U5T-14G424-BN_1727700842000.TAR.GZ
#####

Note that name is preceeded with the package type. The package name does not containt the directory name, but it does contain the real file name on the pendrive, that is with the numeric part and the .TAR.GZ extension.

Make sure you have file extensions showning enabled, so you create "reformat.lst" and not for example "reformat.lst.txt" :) You can create it as "reformat.txt", but then you have to rename it to "reformat.lst"

Now, since the installation takes some time, you can plan to do this during a longer ride (an hour or so). It is not enough to put the car on the 12V supply with engine off, as Sync3 will power down anyway after some time. You can do it with engine on, but then you should remember to turn off the "idle time off". So the ride is the safest way.

When we have all this ready:
a. Place the USB#1 pendrive (with the SyncRenovation mod) in the USB of Sync3

That will format and reboot the Sync3. After some short time you should see a red screen stating it does not see update packages.

b. Take out the USB#1 and insert the USB#2 (the one with "reformat.lst" and packages in SyncMyRide). Package installation should start:

After the installation and a reboot the Sync3 should act as an EU unit. That is, if you are in a region covered by maps you have downloaded, you should see the map of the area in the Sync3.
The jailbreak is preserved.

Note that you can fit more maps on the unit. You can do it either by adding "MAP=" entries to the "reformat.lst" (and placing their files in "SyncMyRide" directory, of course) or at some later time. For adding maps later without reformatting, you can use MapsUpdater (more info here at step 5) or use Cyanlabs's Syn3 Updater with Cut Down Map Package Generator, which uses Ford's standard "autoinstall.lst" way.
In my case I skipped BCL (UK and North Europe) and BHL (Bulgaria, Romania and Eastern Europe), and with BCL voices (but without Gracenotes) my /fs/images has around 3.0 GB left free.

Ad3. Reconfiguring ACM, IPC and APIM with Forscan, and then enabling your language in the Sync menu

After a full APIM restart (soft reset) the Sync3 menu should have European languages available (they are set here for both Sync3 and the dashboard/cluster), so you can set the one of your choice.
(the soft reset can be done by pressing Seek Right and Radio Power for more that 5 seconds - you can find more on resetting Sync in a CyanLabs guide for this topic).

Thanks to Plotus for doing the update, and kudos for all people sharing their knowledge on forums, SyncRenovation guys, as well as the rest of FMods and Cyanlabs people.

Hi, i have a question for sync renovation universal format.

Have you jailbreaked your Sync3 already?
You did not mention what car is it. This is Ford Escape 4G forum, so we can assume this is Ford Escape 2020 or newer. Yet your file says MY20 protection is disabled.

If you're asking strictly about preparing second pendrive (USB#2) with packages to install after the reformat (as done by Universal Sync Renovation that runs from USB#1), then the procedure in post #24 describes self-downloading packages, just to be sure you're on the safe side. Auto-downloading for with "Syn3 Updater" (this is not "sync updater") creates a pendrive that could brick your Sync3, and this is the one that you show us. You need to remove "autoinstall.lst" and both of the tools (1u5t-14g386-cb.tar.gz, PU5T-14G386-BB_1690840002000.TAR.GZ) from USB#2 (the original reformat tool is dangerous for MY20, and RWDataCleaner is just not needed when you reformat anyway) so this pendrive does not pose a risk to brick your Sync3.

If you didn't jailbreak your Sync3 and just asking about taking shortcuts (or mixed old reformat tool with Universal Reformat): converting US to EU in MY20 is not possible with Syn3 Updater tools.

(edit: added clear designations for USB# in the procedure and here)

I did jailbreak and i have puma my23. My apim is esn locked with anz region.

And I was asking exactly for preparing second pendrive. So only i need to remove
"autoinstall.lst" and both of the tools.

USB 1: Universal_Reformat_(SyncRenovation)_1.0.zip
\SyncMyMod
autoinstall
installation_aborted
installation_completed
MLO
QNX-IFS-REFORMAT
\DONTINDX.MSA
\README.TXT

USB 2:
\reformat.lst
\SyncMyRide
(The SyncMyRide should have the .tar or .tar.gz files created by Sync3 Updater)

This is how looks like pendrive 2 Files
Image

and this is syncmyride folder 9 files. i think its ok

By the way, do you have 32GB or 64GB Sync3? Puma is an European made Ford, I guess in Europe they get 64GB, maybe for the sake of simplicity they stayed at 64GB also for Australia/New Zealand (can be checked with Syn3 Updater's Interrogator tool).

This post is a note for people using/seeing EU radio station logos from the ENH_DAB (OEM 1U5T-14G658-AH) package.
The package itself is from 2022 and a little bit outdated (there are quite a few stations not present there, and least in Poland).
There is an FMods mod that has a newer database as distributed with Sync AOS (Sync 5 / Sync Phoenix), so this updates the logos to 2024 - available here.
A user of Polish Ford forum (XFrostPL) has additionally enhanced the FMods mod/database with Polish station logos (as for May 2025) - link to the forum. This mod is available here (it requires recent FMods Tools).
