Wow op, that looks awesome! I have to assume that you get some scrapping going over bumps and definitely at full lock(turning). Looks great though!

Edit: Oops, I didn't read the full thread before posting..lol.. That's fantastic you're not getting much scrapping.

OK been out of the loop here for a bit, but they are a bit loud, less so than studded snow tires, but at the right speeds 28-32 they sing like crazy. Gets some looks for sure. It is not a heavy off roader, but 3 flats from July until snow season had my mind set that my road eats all seasons. I rub slightly at a little less than full lock, on off camber turns. Hit 3 times on large fast bumps. Now in the mud it gets a little clogged up in there, more so with larger rocks but all in all not too bad. Getting ready to make a couple changes so we have less issues taking it fishing and hunting. Nothing too heavy, but the mud in Maine can get bad at times when you are miles from anyone. Today we went out exploring and our hitch found a huge rock that was hidden in the mud. No issues as long as you do not try the rough stuff or to go too fast.
Bad notes is that I have some sounds from what could be the control arms. Might just need some more grease, but the new ones most likely are "sealed" so I am looking at upgrades while I am at the replacements.

Hi there,

Do you have any issues with rubbing ? Looks great , do you have more pictures to share ?

THanks
Also curious about Esh's setup. Any issues so far? Love the look of both of these setups. Don't have an Escape yet, but have convinced the GF a setup like these is going to be needed in our PA winters, instead of the stock 19's on the Titanium she likes.

Also curious if either of you have tried your setup on sand? I know the Escape is no real offroader, along with low ground clearance and no actual 4wd, but it would be nice to be able to take it on the beach when we visit OBX, about once a year. Last year we managed to take a bone stock Crosstrek XV from Corolla to the VA border, and back down, as well as Cape Point where the sand is VERY soft, and we never got stuck. Although there were a few "scary" moments haha. I would imagine the more aggressive tread along with the softer sidewall when aired down should be a decent improvement.

What are some good tires for off road and still OK for the Freeway?
I don't know what size you're planning on running, but I had these on my old Suzuki XL-7 4WD Yokohama*Geolandar A/T-S

It was used mainly on sealed roads and they were very quiet and had excellent grip- even on wets roads (when a lot of off road tyres won't grip well.)

I drove it on dirt roads, tracks, rough paddocks with no tracks and on beaches- they always performed very well. There were never problems with losing traction in loose gravel on corners or anything like that. (When driving to the conditions, of course!)

I'd done around 35000km on them when it was sold. They had plenty of tread depth left- possibly over half left?

Looking for some sand*tires.

I see many reports of people liking the*Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2.

Anyone have anything Bad to say about them?

Other tires for sand*suggestions?

From my experience/ reading a normal highway tyre (or A/T) aired down is the best option for sand. So you have a larger contact patch / weight spread on the sand and don't sink in or dig a hole if you spin a wheel. The theory being chunkier tread tyres (eg. M/T tread) will quickly dig you into a hole if you spin them. Momentum is also important through dunes and tricks like if you stop, reverse back a few meters and get the momentum going again starting on the sand you've already compacted. It's worked fine for me when I had my Suzuki XL-7 and drove through dunes and on beaches.

However, it's probably best to check what people find works in the area you want to drive.

MAINEUSER, I wan to basically have the same setup as you, except with all-season tires. What is the actual tires size that you chose?

I really love the look, by the way!
