Rear Camera Connector

Hi

I have been reading about adding a rear camera for a while now. I purchased all the stuff to add an aftermarket camera to my 2015 with sync 2.
I started the process and everything was clear until I removed the APIM connector to connect the wires to pins 14 & 15..
These pins already have wires.
Any idea if this means there is a connector in the back for the camera? If yes, where can I find that.
I disassembled the liftgate trim and there was no free connector.
Any help is appreciated.

Regards,

I had the same situation with my 2013 Titanium. My pins were occupied. I believe those wires simply run to the BCM. I simply spliced into those APIM wires with the camera + and - and used the reverse lights for my power source. I did change my reverse lamps to LED’s, thus balancing out the draw using both the reverse lamps and camera on the same circuit.

It was pretty basic. Every time I put the vehicle in reverse I got an image. But my 2013 already had the back up sensors in the rear only, so I was pretty happy with this set up.

Sorry, forgot to mention the behavior of your APIM. Hopefully your APIM won’t give you any trouble, since it’s not configured for a rear camera.

I don’t remember if I swapped my APIM for a fully loaded module BEFORE or after I did the camera upgrade. I got NAVIGATION when I swapped my APIM at sone point for a fully loaded APIM so my NAV would work.

That is an excellent sign. You should be good to go. Same thing happened with my NAV. When I started the car after APIM swap it prompted me for the map SD card.
