Remote Start Settings Erasing

In MN it will be nice to have remote start, so of course I've turned the heated seats and steering wheel to "Auto".

Problem is, about every second start it turns these settings back to off.
Anyone else seen this? Suggestions?

Im going to bump this to see if anyone else has been experiencing this now that the weather is cooling off. The dealership has had my Escape all week working to replace the instrument cluster (speedometer sits at 2mph at a standstill) and also working on this remote start thing.

After having the vehicle since monday morning at 7am, and spending the past two days swapping "messages" with Ford HQ, they simply told me "If you let it run a full cycle, its supposed to switch from auto to off." You needed two days to figure that out? By the way...we have never let it run a full remote start cycle. So the troubleshooting continues.

Love my car...but frustrated with my service locally thus far. Everything that has required repair has been a process of them playing message tag with Detroit and every message and reply seems to take a half day plus.

Grr.

What is considered a "full cycle"? Is it remote starting it and then never getting in the vehicle so it turns off on its own because too much time has elapsed?

I thought it was weird that nobody had chimed in for a post from 9/26, usually folks will reply with something, but then I figured that yup, the weather probably had not given the chance to use remote start and heated seats/steering wheel.

Same here. I thought I was going crazy. I always have been setting heated seats to "Auto" parking, and the next time I use the remote start (app), I get in, the seats are cold, check the settings for remote start in the center display, and they're reverted back to "off"....

Super frustrating.

Heard back from the dealership today. They had to order some "module" to fix the issue. So far (in less than a thousand miles) theyve had to replace a fuel control unit, an instrument cluster, and a "module".

As a "new" car owner, should this be considered an issue, or is this typical "growing pains."

Could be growing pains because of so many new things on 2017 models, not a complete overhaul from previous years but from what I've heard it is quite a few things. Hopefully there aren't many more issues coming up on your FE. I like to hear about these things so I can look out for them and have them taken care of before the warranty expires if needed. Unless something is really standing out and bothering me, I usually just brush it off as a minor nuisance. I'm not sure if I've been lucky enough to not have any major issues or I just haven't noticed because my driving time is usually short and not enough time to find issues.

I've only ever had a brand new car once, a Honda Civic before getting this vehicle and I only had one issue with it that was repaired under warranty.

mine too

i thought i was just me....but mine is doing the same...erasing the settings...up here in the north i have used remote start several times and was wondering why the seats and steering were not hit when i get in...check the settings which i know i set to auto and they are all set to off...i will check with the dealer to see if they have any clue....i really want those features to work

Yes, I've done the remote start with the key fob twice and both times the heater and the heated steering wheel have been on. I have it set to auto in the settings. I don't recall if the heated seats turned on, I don't know if I have that set to off or if I just haven't noticed that it turned on.

After reading through the thread again and reading your post here, it looks like it might be an issue just when you remote start through the Ford Pass app. I will try doing that in the next few days and see what it does, I'll post the results back on here.

Same issue here. Seems to be a FordPass issue. Will try calling them when I have the time and patience.....

Having the same problem, I thought I was crazy for a second as I could swear I set it to auto heated seat and even accused my fiancé of turning it off! Thanks for confirming I am not the only one with the problem! I plan on calling the dealer but would hate to take it in for service if there isn't a fix as it will just be a bunch of wasted time!

I was reading this and had same issue. I used forscan to check the remote start settings and seen under the BdyCM that remote start was disabled. with this setting everytime I used fordpass it would reset the seats and steering wheel to off. I made the change and remote started it 5 times and they stayed at auto. I am going to monitor this in the next few days as it is -20 here and will know if it stays fixed.

Remote start inconsistant

Not sure this is the right thread...I'm new here.
My issue is that my 2017 is 6 weeks old, 1200KM. Remote start worked flawlessly until 2 weeks ago when the cold weather hit.
Fordpass app won't communicate with the vehicle once it sits for 3 - 4 hours. If I then insert my key (I've tried both) and either leave it in or remove it, the app will start my car. Kinda useless for cold mornings.
I have gone through a complete reset of the system and re- activation. Same results.
I've been dealing with Fordpass support and they'll get back to me in 3-5 business days which they admit could be easily two weeks. My dealer has no experience at all with Fordpass and it's use. I've been trying to be proactive in helping them troubleshoot.
Also, my settings are on auto and when the remote starts works, the fan is on HI, but seats don't come on. The setting still say Auto.
Anyone else seen or been through this type of issue?

This is the response from Fordpass

In regards to the climate settings not turning on when you remote start via the FordPass application, this is specifically because FordPass is only tied to the embedded 4G Modem called SYNC Connect and not the actual Climate Control Module. Our app developers and Ford Engineers are aware and actively working on a way to allow FordPass to dual communicate. We do apologize for an inconvenience this may have caused you. If you continue to have any further questions please feel free to reach out.

I cant get the heated seats or steering wheel to activate when using the key fob remote start. I have got the settings on Auto and everything else switches on (rear defroster, front wiper heater and climate control). I thought it was because we had not had any low temps but the last few nights we have had below zero temps and they still did not activate. I am going to try "Last settings" and see if that works.

Dealership as had the vehicle all week again (with another TCS issue as well), and still no fix. They admit that they think that its an issue with modules, the app, SYNC, etc.

Ill let you know if/when its resolved.

Does anyone else always get the "We are waiting to hear back from Ford" response? My dealership is a long standing one, with a huge maintenance area, and they are ALWAYS calling Ford tech support.
