Good rule of thumb, if it's safety related, then it'll be a recall, not a CSP.

BTW, it's always much more convenient for you to simply call the dealership service department (ask for a Service Advisor) and tell them about whatever CSP/Recall notice you've received so they can educate themselves and prepare to have everything onsite and ready for the eventual repair (possibly including a loaner vehicle). Then at that point they'll call you to schedule a date/time to drop the vehicle off to begin the repair.
I did that and was told to bring in the car and they would see if repairs were needed. Then they would order parts. It's the second time with this 2022 Escape that I've received a service notice and had the feeling I got the letter long before they knew about the potential problem. They are always friendly, though, and have no problem dealing with me rather than my husband, which has not alway been true. Cheers.

was at the dealer body shop today, newest letter states Ford will pay for a rental on cases requiring replacement of door or doors. my drivers door is completely broken and I had removed the screw that held the arm in the door jam so the whole assembly is in the bottom of the door some place. passenger side is good as new as I seldom have a passenger. she took pictures of the holes (where the spot welds failed) on drivers door, pictures of the good passenger door and door tag and VIN. they now order a replacement door and reinforcement bracket for passenger side and will notify me when they get it in and have prepped and painted it, and are ready to do the transfer. no word on how long it will take to get the parts.

Update: After receiving the CSP 23B56 letter, I brought my '22 to the dealership collision center yesterday and spoke with the body shop tech they've put in charge of inspecting, taking pics, and documenting the spot weld problems. He then gives that info to the service advisor, who then pushes it up to Ford to decide how to repair everything.

The tech discovered I now also have a passenger side spot weld failing so he'll recommend both doors get repaired. He said he's inspected at least 10 cars with driver-side problems, but mine is the first one with a passenger side problem that he's seen.

The tech said Ford will decide whether to have the doors rewelded and repainted, or to have the doors replaced and painted, and he has no idea how long that might take to decide, let alone actually complete. The tech said nothing about the "reinforcement kit" that the CSP notice mentions, and I hadn't thought to ask him what this kit supposedly contains or how it's supposed to be used. I doubt there is a kit at this point.

well not a "reinforcement kit" its description is "escape door service kit" and it is part number LJ6Z-78235A62-A I don't know why she gave it to me but she gave me the administrative paper work that breaks thing down and has part numbers and breaks down the required qualification level to perform the work, the quick lube guy won't be working on this. if they have to replace both doors they are willing to pay up to $8000, $4000 for just one door. oddly it list reimbursement for just painting the door ($2000 just to paint one door)
she said they are replacing doors if they have failed and the arm is loose, if the welds are intact they install the kit. she said the new door should be on order in a couple days and when it comes in it will be prepped and painted and they will call me at that time to get mine in the perform the replacement.
the paper work does state that when door replacement is required ford will pay for rental vehicle or other transportation alternatives if required up to three days.

Interesting, here’s the verbiage from my repair order that states it’s a reinforcement kit

I just had this completed on my Escape. It passed the inspection and I received the reinforcement kit.
I had mine checked last week and they had to oder the reinforcement kit, however my dealership is one of the ones affected by the CDK outage that affected over 15K dealerships...my dealer probably won't be back online after the 4th of July weekend

If that is the Ford's fix... that's not acceptable. It's ugly. I don't even know how structurally sound. I hope I don't get that fix. If mine needs a repair, I would wait till the the entire door check-arm falls off so they have to replace the door.
The check arm can break and be repaired without replacing the door.

With a list price of $7.07 I would hazard a guess that the kit is a set of rivets with backing washers.
Stevedvik1's post was from the other thread on this:
Had kits installed in both doors. Nothing that you can see externally after kits installed to indicate what the reinforcement is.
It doesn't sound like a rivet kit, or bolts/washers/nuts if it can't be seen externally, so I'm very interested in what it looks like and how it actually works.

Found one on eBay.
It's a set of rivets with with sealant, so I would expect the repair looks like post #34

Agreed. That's pretty damn ugly then. Not impressed.
Obviously Stevedvik1 didn't have that done, he must've had complete door replacements.
No door replacements. Car was at the dealer for about a half a day with both sides done. I pulled the weatherstripping back a bit and took some pics. Not sure what it looked like before but there appears to be some rivets underneath the weatherstripping. Otherwise without probing there’s nothing to see hence my original comment.

So you lied! LOL
Love the color on your car, btw.
Appears to be 6 rivets in each kit, looks like they used all of 2 on your driver door.
I'm surprised they didn't drill out the existing spot welds on yours and install the rivets, seeing as how it's an obvious weakness, and it'll likely eventually fail anyway.

I should go back and demand my unused rivets ! 😂
