My car has intelligent access

There is no key only push button start

I followed the method for programming an intelligent access key and it doesn't work!

I took it to my Ford dealer. Very knowledgeable service advisor said no problem!

He could not get it to work either!!

He said that a tech will have to do it with a computer.

has anyone programed one with a push button start?

Still can't program new FOB Intelligent Access

:eek::(

As I understand it, if you have an IA key with all the bells and whistles including push button start then the dealer has to add additional keys. Or do any sort of programming involving the key fobs. Dealer has to use the Ford IDS system. If you only have one fob because you lost a fob or only got one fob at purchase, then the dealer needs to wipe the whole system and reprogram from scratch.

So if you buy a titanium trim level and they only have one fob, make sure they agree in writing to provide a second fob at no cost.

I am trying to program a second key fob and have tried four methods, but have not been able to get the Escape in programming mode.

2014 Escape SE, 1.6 EcoBoost, I have the factory key/fob that came with car and a fob that I am trying to program for the 2014 from my 2011 Escape that I sold. I looked up fobs on the internet and it showed the 2005, 2011, and 2014 all use the same fob. (I also own a 2005 Escape and it is the same number as the 2011 fob)

I have programmed many key fobs. The problem is getting into programming. These are the methods I have tried:

1) Close doors, turning key 8 times (10 seconds), last turn left on position, push each remote after locks cycle

2) Close doors, then driver door opened, unlock button on drivers door pushed, then as above in #1

3 Close doors, driver door is not opened, unlock button on drivers door pushed, then as above in #1

4) Fasten seat belt, close all doors, turn key 4 times (3 seconds) ending in OFF, system will chime, then push each remote

I read something about special programming for the new Escapes

Thanks for you time :|

i have an 2017 escape, i want to know if this process changes for me, because i'm having issues doing it.

I just recently bought a 2018 SE. It's been a while since this thread was updated and I wanted to help others looking to replace their crappy OEM keys (shame on you Ford).

I ordered two flip keys from ebay. Sorry, I'm new here so I am not allowed to post a direct link so just copy and paste the following after "ebay.com".

It's the updated listing with the new and improved flip key for the Escape. For any fellow Canadians, he doesn't normally ship to Canada due to past issues with Canada Post. I messaged him and he readily gave me the option to ship them to Canada via Fedex. Two days later, I had the keys laser cut at a local locksmith for $25ea. FYI, the programming instructions that came with the new keys did NOT work. Thanks to previous posters for the instructions below that DID work.

For remote button functions:

1) Open the driver's door and then press the unlock button (on the door).
2) Insert key in ignition and turn from OFF(l) to RUN(lll - not starting the car) 8 times and then turn to the Off position
3) A quiet beep will confirm that the vehicle is in programming mode
4) press a button on all remotes, including the originals, all within ten seconds. Each time a button on a remote is pressed, there is a beep to confirm

For the ignition to recognize the new key so it will start the vehicle (two working keys required):

1) insert the first working key, turn to RUN, then OFF
2) insert the second working key, turn to RUN, then OFF
3) insert the new key, turn to RUN, then OFF. It should now be recognized by the vehicle
4) repeat 1-3 for any other new keys

As others have stated, the new remote adds the ability to unlock the hatch. New keys are working great and the locksmith was very impressed with the quality.

Cheers.

I receive new key. ford escape 2014
Anyone know the procedure how to program the key?

Hi All,
I successfully programmed 4 keys for my 2014 Ford Escape.
I had two original keys(pictured below on left).

To program the keys for starting the car I used the formula in the manual.
But, that DID NOT program the buttons on the fob. To program the buttons on the Fob I had to:

1)Open the driver's door and then press the unlock button.
2)Off(l) to On(lll - not starting the car) 8 times and then turn to the Off position
3)there was a quiet beep
4)press a button on each remote. Each time I pressed a button on the remote there was a beep from the remote.
That was it.

I actually was trying to program 5 remotes but gave up. When I got four done I called it "good for now".

So did the door locks cycle when you did that or was it just a beep?

I have a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. I have 2 smart key fobs, but only 1 is working. Not sure why the second one stopped working. I've opened it up and everything looks fine and all the parts seem to be in tact. I've also replaced the battery with known working batteries (yes, I put the battery in correctly).

I want to be sure I have an extra working key fob. I'm willing to purchase one on eBay or Amazon and program it myself. Problem is every set of instructions I've read to resolve this issue says you need 2 working key fobs in order to program another. So...how do I get an additional fob programmed when I only have 1 working fob?

I merged your thread with one of the existing threads on this question. There are other threads, if this one doesn’t help you. A quick search should find them.

I'm not sure this thread will be very helpful to me. It is for a different year and completely different key type... on a thread from 2013.
Check out post #20 and #23 they are referring to the IA Key. The IA key shouldn’t be any different from 2013 and 2017 MY’s

You might have to go to the dealer.

What if you have no keys and your one single key is now broken (I dropped it and my cow stepped on it). my escape is a 2018 with push button start also. Towing to dealership is not an option as I am 150 miles from a dealership and towing would cost over $500.

ho does one program it? If it needs a computer can I program it with forscan and a reader like I have reprogrammed alot of setting for my 2023 bronco?
