Transmission shifting question.

First post but 2-week lurker after buying a used 2013 Escape SEL 2.0, 23k miles. Build date is something around August 2012 I believe. I appreciate all the information here.

I wanted to get some experiences to give me an idea if something is wrong. One thing I've found with my new-to-me Escape is that shifting from 2nd into 3rd always has a delay, it's a longer shift then any other gears. It's one of those shifts where you catch yourself instinctively leaning forward slightly to combat momentum because it hangs for a second before completing the shift. Going from 1st to 2nd is acceptably quick, fraction of a second. Then 2nd to 3rd feels like it hangs in-between gears for about a second (maybe slightly longer) before completing. Third into 4th and so on are all fine.

In driving the vehicle with varying temperatures, it seems to do this from anywhere 15F-50F (it could do it in hotter weather, this is the only temperature I've driven the vehicle at so far).

Has anyone else seen something like this? I'm trying to determine if this is a nature of the transmission in this vehicle or if it could be signs of a problem.

i am not worrying about mine.

Wish I could say the same! My expectations are that this vehicle will last me at least 8 years without major problems. I've been spoiled over the last 16 years in that I've had exactly 2 cars (both Pontiac Grand Prix) and neither had any issues whatsoever, just regular maintenance.

Tricia, I've sent my info over, I appreciate the help!
