Brought my 2020 Hybrid to the dealership, took them 2 weeks to finish the flywheel replacement job. Today, it's 28-30 in my area and I can still hear the noise :( But it was not as loud as before. The tech did a great job, document everything on the invoice.

After I go my Kuga/Escape phev 2021 clutch assembly changed because of rattle the car has developed a new sound in low speed low rev when combustion engine is on.

The facts about sound:
  • it seems to be more loud after braking first
  • it seems to be more loud when going uphill
  • it happens in low speed 0-10 mph
  • it comes nearby the drive motor 2 or driver side driveshaft or motor generator1
  • it is amplified when combustion engine is running:
If I drive the car in ev only mode at slow speed and then force combustion engine to turn on the sound gets way louder (before that in ev only mode I can hear the electric engine 2 running a bit unevenly with my mic setup. When ice is on the dragging sound starts)

How to replicate the sound:
Make sure the combustion engine is on
Drive slowly and brake to 0-3 mph speed
Accelerate gently to 9 mph speed
-> a rotational whining/dragging sound happens

The sound is in this video from 20 s onwards:

If someone had any idea why this happens I would highly appreciate it :) Could it be the drivers side driveshaft seal or maybe startergenerator or motor2 running unevenly?

Sounds like a bad planetary
It's kind of weird. It started after they changed the damper between ICE and gearbox. Sound can be heard in sport mode or when setting "charge battery" mode in normal drive mode. It requires the ice to be running.

I think the intervals in the sound happen because of the new damper (different spring characteristics) but the whining happens because of unknown reason.
