Been a while since my last post as well, but I took My 2020 Titanium Hybrid in about two weeks ago, and they are currently replacing the transmission. It is expected to be ready tomorrow! yay! This is the second time I've had to take it in; last time, they spent a bunch of time doing software updates and replaced the flywheel, which seemed to fix the issue for a few days. The dealer said they had seen quite a few hybrids with this issue (which is probably why they decided to swap out the entire thing instead of doing software updates for days like the last visit. Hopefully, this is the end of this issue; fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update. They're still waiting on the flywheel damper for mine, was told should be next week for the part and then they have to get it on the rack. Hope to get it back in 2 weeks. Let us know how things go and I'll post back the outcome of my repair once I get a few miles on it.

Do you have an update whether the noise comes back or not?

Just wanted to provide an update on my flywheel damper replacement. After being at the dealer for 5 weeks (short on technicians and backlog of trans work) I've had my vehicle back for a few days and all appears well. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we've had colder than normal temps in the south so I've been able to start the vehicle with temperatures in the 30's and rattle noise is gone. Hopefully it'll stay that way. Unfortunately the engine surge when shifted into N when cold is still there, even after re-programming everything. It was completely by accident that I discovered that problem, dealer did replicate and I've read of others that have it, but there doesn't seem to be a fix. I'm just not going to shift into N, doesn't affect performance whatsoever. Vehicle drives like new, actually better than new since the rattle was there when I bought it, temps just didn't stay cold long enough in February for the dealer to replicate it ... plus there really wasn't any sort of fix back in 2021 either. Tech did a great job, one would never know the vehicle had such major work done to it. Also got the 12V battery replaced due to Deep Sleep issue. That's a story for another forum. Will update if anything changes in the future.

Has anyone been able to confirm that the flywheel damper / "clutch disc" is actually an updated part design? Or are they just replacing it with the same version as the current part?
Per my work order, it states "replaced flywheel damper assembly", TSB 22-2061 calls it a flywheel damper assembly, part is listed as Disc Asy - Clutch, I believe we all know the part we're talking about regardless of what it's called. To my knowledge still no updated part planned, Replaced with NZ6Z-7550-A

I hate when the fingers type out the opposite of what the brain is thinking. 🙃 To clarify, to my knowledge, this is an updated part. Replaced with NZ6Z-7550-A. I believe the original was LX6Z-7550-A. Sorry.

Where and... how? :D
I may just be one of those new hire IRS agents with a license to kill.

Nah, I have had my go-rounds with new cars and I fully understand the frustration(s).

It seems like FORD CORPORATE would exert more control over these dealerships.

My dealer service a bunch of commercial vehicles, including Police interceptors and my impression is they are pretty good. They got the subwoofer rattle straight, first try. I sat with the service advisor once and he showed me his parts.ford.com portal, so yeah, they won't source part aside from ford.com and that makes sense because they have to claim with CORPORATE any cost involved in the TSB.

Do you have a language that can get a loaner when your vehicle was in the shop?
I wish I did. This wasn't even the dealer that sold me the vehicle! They were useless whenever I took the car in, even for an oil change. Tried a different dealer and they were extremely accommodating. Short story, I dropped it off for the Deep Sleep issue and the damper noise. They did the software upgrade and of course found nothing wrong with the battery. I basically coasted 2 blocks downhill from the dealer and stopped for some lunch. While doing so I checked Ford Pass and vehicle was back in deep sleep mode ... in 10 minutes. It was also a cold day and I was still able to hear the damper noise when I went back to the vehicle though not as bad. Sent my service advisor a screen shot of the Deep Sleep issue and he said to bring it right back. The car hadn't warmed up enough for the damper noise to completely go away, so the shop foreman came out, heard it, said leave the car and the next thing I know they're providing me with a new Edge as a rental. Blew my mind. They felt bad I had left the car there for a week and then when I picked it up it had the exact same issues. That may have worked in my favor, either way these guys won me over for any future vehicle business. I know loaners are next to impossible to get, Good luck

That's the way it is supposed to work.

If being a dealer and you are uncaring or incompetent, you need to close the doors. HOW FORD CORPORATE lets dealers get away with his is incomprehensible, especially with the quality of product now.

I was waiting till i touched about 1000 miles on the replacement to make sure it was gone for good. So far i've put 1500 ish miles and the noise is gone! So happy!!!

This required a complete transmission replacement for me, replacing the flywheel/damper only worked a few days for me so @Excaped I would keep a close eye on it.
